In this land where legends of the divine has faded from sight,
only what remains is proof that something of celestial origin crafted
this world. Forgetting what true strength is, the people wage war with
their powerful companions by their side. What was once thought as a sacred
connection has morphed into a power meant for war. If the Gods return to this
world, what will they think of this? What will the people decide in the presence
of true power? Will you, a hero in this land, reach out to connect with the Gods
themselves as heroes of the past had? Will you wage war against the divine? Only you
can decide where you will try to guide this mysterious, wartorn world.

"Fighting untold enemies like never before. We're waging war!"
> Tearing Through Heaven has no concrete BATTLE SYSTEM. You are allowed to attack, defend and dodge as creatively as you want, as long as it is reasonable. We really encourage innovative ideas too--you can interpret move descriptions in from Bulbapedia and take examples from a lot of media (including anime) and act upon it accordingly. Attacks that are used differ from the techniques (Example: A scratch or bite from any Pokemon can be used, but having the actual technique will do significant damage due to it being a mastered technique).
> There are no BATTLE CALCULATORS as we are writing focused, role-play site instead of a video game. Therefore, there is no need for a battle calculator. Although, tiers will give an idea of how strong a Warlord and Pokemon are due to experience as will the attacks which have been repurposed and balanced for the Roleplay.
> There is NO DODGE LIMIT in each battle but please keep things fair when dodging, and write the dodging element. Dodging three times consecutively is morally not okay. If you Roleplay in this manner, staff will not intervene initially. This is because as the community is heavily writing based, we encourage members to plot and write in coordination to a story and not for supremacy as in RP games. However, in events where staff moderate and if Godmodding and/or Metagaming will appear, staff will act accordingly if a member's writing suggests crude motivations.
> There is no exp system on Tearing Through Heaven as Pokemon and Warlord in Conquest determine their strength by their "Link.' In CHARACTER VERSUS CHARACTER battles, there will be no exp distributed regardless of win or loss. The players are encouraged to plot and to discuss with each other, as both will be rewarded with Tier-Up of techniques and Link points.
> In this site, stat-based moves work slightly differently and contribute to a lot of the flair of the writing. Things are more realistic according to the attacks and their Tiers. It is up to you as a roleplayer to keep this in mind when writing with partners. We the staff will provide a guideline for these stats accordingly.
> The TIER SYSTEM groups Pokemon and attacks! Because in the level system, even if one level above the next Pokemon, indicates an advantage. This most likely will encourage division and the idea of “I’m stronger” when it comes to players and their Pokemon. The Tier System groups levels and distinguishes strength by Pokemon and their techniques as Pokemon Conquest is based on strategy and cohesion rather than raw strength! This makes it possible for almost any Pokemon to win a battle if they are able to properly utilize their resources in a realistic manner. Note that a link is NOT reflective of a Pokemon and level. If anything, a fully evolved Charizard can be Link 0 and a Pidgey can be link 50. The deciding factor would be that the Link determines the experience between Warlord and Pokemon which determines synchronization of attacks, how well they respond to commands, and understanding of one another (which will determine battles as this is expected to be Roleplayed accordingly).
Pokemon Tiers
Tier 0: Under Link 5 - Tier 0 - A Pokemon is either fairly new to the Warlord after bonding with them in the wild, or they just recently hatched from an egg. Either way, the warrior will not be aware of the Pokemon and every aspect of their personality. They will know they perhaps have potential as all Pokemon does and have the faintest idea of how to bring it out. Their attacks can be powerful, but lack of control and coaching makes it so that the attacks are not controlled properly and can bring danger to others, if not themselves. The basic attacks may even seem a bit hard to bring out in a timely manner, but they can use them most of the time with no problems.
Tier 1: Link 5 - 24 - The Pokemon and Warlord are starting to get to know one another! The Pokemon will be able to use basic attacks as the Warlord is starting to realize their potential. They can apply the simple rudimentary skills and are working to develop their techniques even further. The Pokemon is able to defend themselves and probably fight back with no problem. However, they are still a far cry from executing the strongest of techniques without danger, and they will definitely experience some trouble with bringing out stronger techniques whether it is the timing or the full strength.
Tier 2: Link 25 - 49 - Better synergy has been reached! Powerful attacks are not out of the Pokemon's grasp as it and the Warlord have practiced and mastered the second level of a technique. The Pokemon is able develop the attack into something more powerful after applying the basics. The Pokemon may be evolving along with their techniques or maybe the Warlord is able to call a command on instinct knowing the Pokemon and how quick they can react. At this tier, the warrior and their Pokemon are a threat against civilians and most common soldiers from any of the ten kingdoms.
Tier 3: Link 50 - 74 - The Pokemon and the Warlord's names are synonymous now among retainers and their lords. The tactics are something to be feared and are actually a threat on the field making common soldiers who are not experienced with their Pokemon to fall before their tactical prowess and synergy. The Pokemon can use some of the strongest techniques without batting an eye with reservations to stamina. Their form allows for them to not stress their bodies as they and their Warlord have trained to the brim by coordinating with one another. On the battlefield, beware of Pokemon of this caliber.
Tier Max: Link 75 - 100 - A power close to the Legendary Bond that once brought a moment of peace of Ransei. Warlord and Pokemon of this level sometimes use few words or maybe none at all in order to accomplish tasks. Body gestures and movements command swift action, or just uttering the attack and a key word may get them to understand the plan. A link with a Pokemon threatens even the divine who have sheer strength making the daimyo and the lords of the ten kingdoms a simple problem of yesterday.
> Tiers play an important role in battle due to it determining coordination with a Pokemon. As Pokemon are free to evolve or be whatever form one pleases, strength will play a role in battle, but discipline and art through training Pokemon play a key role in pulling off complex maneuvers and understanding one another (which is measured by Link Lv).
> You are allowed to "train" with Pokemon by creating solo threads in which you Roleplay strengthening a bond. By surrendering this thread and posting the link and a summary of the training in a designated character tracker, you are able to acquire a number of link levels. This number of link points it decided by staff and is completely objective. (Note that you are allowed to train your Pokemon for link levels and surrender it twice per month. You can even train multiple Pokemon in one scenario, but how much attention to detail between Pokemon and Warlord and how their bonding is demonstrated will affect the points.)
> Within Ransei, "Moves" are synonymous with the term "Techniques." This is due to them being utilized in many ways and not just in a simple battle. In the Ransei Region, Pokemon gain experience with their Warlord in order to control these Techniques that develop from the base techniques. However, regardless of the plethora of techniques, a Pokemon can only learn four techniques and three of those techniques will "Tier-Up."
> Techniques are categorized in Tiers 1-4 and are grouped by complexity, effect, and damage. The more complex and damaging, the higher the tier. Pokemon Techniques can increase their Tier! By doing so, you can use a technique that is similar to the lower tier technique, but has more complex effects or higher damage. This is reflective of how a Pokemon applies principles of training with its Warlord and learning to utilize elements to create stronger techniques.
A Bulbasuar knows the technique Worry Seed which is a Tier 1 Technique. Bulbasaur gains experience with practicing the technique with its Warlord and soon realizes that it can shoot a different variation of seed! As a result, Bulbasaur Tier-Up its Worry Seed to Tier 2 Technique, Leech Seed!
Now Bulbasaur can not only use Worry Seed, but also use Leech Seed as a utilized Technique! However, this is not the only path:
A Bulbasuar knows the technique Worry Seed which is a Tier 1 Technique. Bulbasaur gains experience with practicing the technique with its Warlord and soon realizes that it can shoot not just one seed, but many! As a result, Bulbasaur Tier-Up its Worry Seed to Tier 2 Technique, Bullet Seed!
Now Bulbasaur has learned to shoot its seeds in a barrage of hits instead of use it as a modifying technique. The Tier-Up System does not follow a specific path, but just asks you are logical with how a Pokemon Tier-Up their Techniques and reflects that they are learning how to utilize their basic knowledge into something more advanced.
> Pokemon are NOT restricted by their Technical Move Range. This is because some of the technical moves learned do not make sense (Note: Ghastly can learn Fire Punch...and also Ice Punch...or even Thunder Punch). Instead, a Pokemon can learn any move as if it is a technical move but as long as it is logical and is within restriction of their Kingdom and knowledge. This is further described in character composition and creation.
> Technique Tiers are sorted and listed! Your Pokemon can take any route for Tier-Up as long as it is logical and within the Warlord's type knowledge. Even when Tier-Up, Pokemon can still use the previous variation of the Tier of move. Tier Ups work with the following format:
One Technique can Tier-Up to Tier 4 Max
One Technique can Tier-Up to Tier 3 Max
One Technique can Tier-Up to Tier 2 Max
One Technique will remain at Tier 1
Note: This gives a Pokemon a max of 10 Techniques!
> Pokemon Techniques and severity are interpreted by the Role-Player with Tier 1 being the least affective on the environment in terms of destruction and changing the field and Tier 4 being the most. This also means the higher the Tier, the more stressful the use of a technique can be on a Pokemon! The staff asks that they are Roleplayed properly to give members the true experience of capturing the nature of Pokemon and their power in a realistic perspective.
"The more you hammer away, the more the wear shows!"
> Stat-based moves work differently on Tearing Through Heaven. There are Two-Types of stat-based Techniques: Physical and Psychological.
Psychological Techniques are ploys used in order to cause a change in a Pokemon's constitution. These Techniques do NOT cause damage, but they are always effective to cause a change in the user or the target's state. A Leer that will drop one's defense as the sight of it will intimidate a Pokemon. A Scary Face that terrifies the Pokemon and stunting their speed, or meditating and raising one's attack in a moment's notice! These ploys and states are effective as they are almost guaranteed to miss, but since (logically) a Pokemon will not fall for these twice, a Pokemon cannot have their stats further lowered by these techniques. However, certainty that they will work is very high!
Physical Techniques involve doing damage while also lowering stats! Using Psychic to make an attack on one's psyche will lower their Special Defense. Using a Lunge will strike key points of the body which lowers the Defense of the Pokemon. Using Charge Beam may heighten the inner energies in order to increase the Pokemon's Special Attack. As these techniques are highly dependent on whether they strike or not, these CAN lower or heighten stats multiple times since it is determined by the Pokemon who may evade these techniques or hit by them. Thus, using constant attacks on the body, even if aware of their effects, will not protect the Pokemon like a non-damaging Psychological attack would.
>In Tearing Through Heaven, instead of Six Stages of stat increase and decreases, it is limited to three (Critical Rate is limited to 1). This makes it so that the three levels will be critical in determining the Pokemon's potential for damage output, resistance, speed, and other factors. Thus, Warlords should keep in mind how their repertoire of stat-based moves will affect their style of battle as they play a very important role in strategy for a warrior and character development. The following stats work accordingly within the Roleplay.
> Attack - The physical prowess of a Pokemon! They are able to do many tasks when their strength is augmented. A slash attack may sheer through metal when it is high or their punches may shatter castle stone walls. On the other hand, they may be feeble when affected by negatively by augmentations from enemies and conditions on the field. Pokemon who fight one another are more durable to not be so easily destroyed by such attacks, but no doubt they will feel the difference between power.
>Defense - Some Pokemon can fortify themselves while others can weaken others with physical durability. Pokemon may be able to survive a collapsing tower or a giant falling stone. Others may find it difficult to even resist a punch attack from other Pokemon when not having the proper reinforced attack. In Pokemon battles, Pokemon with high defense are able to last longer in battle when it comes to physical brawls.
>Special Attack - The power that comes from the mind! Pokemon with Special Attack parameters high in this stat are able to bring the best out of special attacks. Concentrating their inner energies can make an Energy Ball more potent or their focus may increase the power of a Psychic attack. Pokemon who are low in special attack may not bring out these powers and may not be effective in battle compared to these who are able to utilize this stat.
>Special Defense - Pokemon with these stats have a strong mental fortitude! They are able to keep focus and not be deterred by energy attacks or psychological attacks. They will be resistant to psychological ploys and dealing with stressful situations. They may even have the strength to completely endure attacks such as Solar Beam or Hydro Pump! Pokemon with a low special defense may completely fall to these sort of attacks due to them not being use to the harsh elements and energy-based attacks.
>Speed - Speed has a tactical function within Ransei. Pokemon with higher speed or lower speed will see a difference with how they utilize certain attacks and traverse the terrain with their techniques. A Pokemon with higher speed will be able to increase the strength of counter-based attacks that increase in strength when certain actions call for them. A Pokemon with higher speed will be able to use Counter with the opponent suddenly caught off guard by their execution.
>Accuracy - Accuracy is the Pokemon's aim using special attacks (not the accuracy of physical attacks). Pokemon who strengthen their accuracy are able to make careful aims and shots using their special attacks. This may result in a lot of Multi-Attacks being so accurate that they are akin to homing projectiles. Pokemon with lower accuracy will have their aim off and may cause glancing blows instead of potent impacts with their Special Attacks.
>Evasion - Evasive Pokemon are those who are able to fight at close range and make more powerful impacts due to their movements. Pokemon who heighten their evasion are like skilled boxers during a scuffle! When Pokemon are low in evasion, they are usually more sluggish and susceptible to more swift and sudden impacts from powerful physical attacks. Pokemon with higher evasion are able to move gracefully and land their hits consistently as they are more tense and readily able to fight.
>Critical Rate - A Critical Hit is a powerful strike that is a tier higher! Critical Hits are a bit more complex and are only possible through few methods. As Ransei does not use technology or tools such as Razor Claws or Scope Lens, a Pokemon must learn to focus their energy in order to cause this phenomenon! Even more so, only attacks that have a higher rate will do devastating damage and treated as a Critical Hit (Note: These attacks a notated as "Rate Up" in the listing).
>Modify - Super Effective attacks, multipliers such as Charge or Helping Hand, and attacks that change elements are called "Modifiers." These alter the Pokemon (and possibly the field when used properly) in order to make the elements more susceptible to Pokemon attacks. An Electric Terrain created by a Pokemon and using a Thunder Bolt attack will certainly cause a massive surge in an area full of metal minerals while a Fire attack using a Fire-based attack on a Pokemon on Grassy Terrain and using Ingrain would put them in peril! Be sure to take advantage of modifiers caused by field effects or attacks that cause some special changes to the Pokemon and their attacks.
Note: This is a general guideline for the Roleplay and in no way is concrete beyond the reasoning and flavor writing.
> STATUS EFFECTS are special conditions that occur when a Pokemon has been struck by an attack or technique that is severe enough to change their body's state. Attacks such as Fire Blast cause burns while a Thunder Wave may cause a paralysis. Although we traditionally know the effect of status conditions within the Pokemon World, they work different on Tearing Through Heaven due to them working in the case of severity and how crippling they are depending on the technique. For example, an Ember attack causing a burn that is as severe as a Fire Blast is very illogical! Therefore, Status Conditions are affected by the tier of an attack. Tiers of Status Conditions grow with continuous exposure or frequent attacks that cause that same condition are made upon the Pokemon. Also, some status conditions CAN stack if logical (Ex: Burning and then Freezing a Pokemon is not logical while burning a sleeping Pokemon is possible...yet they can possibly wake up due to the pain).
Severity by Tier
Tier 1: The Pokemon's burns may be a simple first degree or their freezes may be enough to make it to the point they have trouble focusing. Status Conditions at this level are crippling, but they are not enough so that the Pokemon is completely helpless! They will be able to make their attacks or movements with little hinderance, especially if their tier and experience in battle is higher, but continuous exposure to these elements will become intense and the Pokemon will find them absolutely crippling!
Tier 2: The Pokemon is definitely feeling differences to their body! A Pokemon with the drowsy status is becoming more intensely clumsy and their moves will become sluggish. A Pokemon suffering from paralysis will have a speed drop that shows! Pokemon with this tier status condition are definitely feeling some stark differences in how they move about the field or go on the offensive. Further exposure to status conditions could make it nearly unbearable!
Tier 3: The Pokemon is surely in danger! The degree of the burn is third degree making it possible that it will be a mark on them long after battle. Paralysis may be lightly affecting their nervous system! A Pokemon who is fighting with the drowsy status is finding it difficult to move about the field and will not aim or maneuver properly as if their accuracy and evasion is lower. Pokemon with theses status are in terrible danger when it comes to not just the battle, but their health.
Tier 4: The most dangerous tier of Status Damages! The Pokemon will be frozen cold and unable to make a single move! A Pokemon who is drowsy will fall asleep! Burn status will leave some permanent marks that will never go away and not to mention there will be any hope of snapping out of their confusion any time soon! The Pokemon at this level of status condition Tier will have their lives in danger and it is up to the Warlord to make a vital decision!
Note: Status Condition Tiers mirror the tier of attack. Regardless of constant attacks of a same tier, the severity increases by One-Tier and are not a sum (Ex: Flamethrower Tier 2 used twice does NOT equal a Tier 4 Burn).
> FREEZE - will chill the Pokemon's body to lower temperatures! Depending on the severity, the Pokemon may experience light hypothermia to full blown being frozen to the bone! A Pokemon who is suffering from the "Freeze" status in light doses are not able to properly maneuver, making it so that their Evasion is reduced by a stage by Tier 2.
> BURN - will vary in degree! The Pokemon will suffer from light irritation and reddening of their body to chars and twisted bits of their body from more intense heat. A Pokemon who is suffering from a Degree of Burn will have their Attack stat reduced by a single stage at Tier 2.
> DROWSY - is the prerequisite of Sleep. Pokemon who are Drowsy will stumble and not be able to focus, making it so that their Special Attacks are significantly weaker when they become drowsy at Tier 2. Pokemon who increasingly become more drowsy will eventually fall asleep at Tier 4. When a Pokemon who is drowsy suffers damage, the Tier of the status condition is reduced by a single stage.
> PARALYSIS - is a status condition that cripples the Pokemon's movements by shock their nervous system either by shock or psychological change. A Pokemon will have slower movement speed the more their nervous system is placed into shock! At Tier 2, their Speed is reduced by a single stage by then. By Tier 4, the Pokemon is unable to make a single move due to their system being in complete shock.
> POISON - has a severity, and this works as Poisoned and Badly Poisoned. When a Pokemon is Badly Poisoned, their body is less resistant to most attacks. At Tier 2 Poisoning, known as Badly Poisoned, the Pokemon suffers from lower Accuracy as they lack the ability to focus on targets from a distance. The Pokemon will also suffer from more damage when they attack at Tier 4 poisoning as they place strain their bodies to go on the offensive during battle.
> CONFUSION - can cause Pokemon to be very vulnerable due to the lack of coherency. A confused Pokemon will attack themselves or even attack their allies! A Pokemon who is confused, with severity, will be unable to mount a psychological defense. As a result, their Special Defense will be compromised and decrease by a single stage.
> INFATUATION - can cause the opposing Pokemon of the opposite gender to fall in love. Vulnerability and lack of alertness to the target makes it so that their Defense is a stage lower. Unlike most statuses, since the Pokemon is attracted to one target, it means that when that Pokemon faints, this status vanishes. However, it is still risky as not only the affected Pokemon can hesitate to attack at higher stages, but actually use a technique to heal the target or give them their berry in courtship!
> FLINCHING - causes the Pokemon to hesitate to attack out of fear! Unlike most status conditions, this one is close in terms of a certain type of paralysis. The Pokemon is unable to react, making them pull punches due to them being afraid of a particular Pokemon due to trauma. Attacks that have a higher Critical Hit rate denoted by Rate Up are instead reversed and do one tier stage less of damage at Tier 2 of this status damage. Pokemon that have their Critical Rate Up have it nullified completely due to them unable to focus out of fear!
> Trap - Pokemon that are trapped are unable to flee from battle! This Status Condition is special as Pokemon are unable to retreat while under this status condition lest they have an attack that they Switch. The Pokemon will be stuck in battle, often taking damage from certain attacks that keep them in battle while also hurting them with continuous damage. It is always good to have a method of escape when dealing with fighters who use this state.
> Lock - Pokemon who are Locked are unable to use certain moves! Lock is the state Pokemon are in when they have their Power Points reduced. Since there are no Power Points on this RP, then it functions similarly to Disable except severity will vary by the Tier of attack being used and Tier of the attack being Locked.
Non-Severity Conditions
> Endure - The Pokemon is able to withstand attacks! Although not a Status Condition inflicted by an enemy nor does it is have a severity, Endure is still valuable as it gives the Pokemon to make one last stand and survive a vital attack no matter how damaging or severe it is! As a result, however, the Pokemon's health is seriously dwindled and when this status vanishes, it is as if they are in a weakened state making it imperative that they heal (Note: Unlike the series, The Pokemon does not have to Endure an attack the turn they use this technique).
> Continuous Damage - This Status Condition is caused by unorthodox methods that are usually specific to Pokemon! Curses, Nightmares, a Leech Seeds are examples of this damage that is caused by attacks that will damage the Pokemon overtime when certain conditions are met. As a result, the Pokemon will take damage with their only hope of dispelling the method is by getting rid of the source of the technique (Ex: Awakening from Nightmares, Using Rapid Spin to whisk away seeds, etc). Note: through innovation and logic, there are more than one way to escape these techniques.
> Continuous Recovery - This Status Condition is not a fault, but yet still puts the Pokemon under a status that benefits them! Pokemon that are under this status are able to recover overtime due to a certain condition that is being met in battle. Usually, this can be dispelled by enemy tactics or even turned against the user! Either way, a Pokemon will recover overtime as they are a regenerative state, and usually at the cost of inflicting a limit uponn themselves (Example: Ingraining one's roots into the ground causes recovery, but inflicts the Lock status as well).
